Alone again, naturally

Enter sad panda.

My best friend with whom I spend the majority of my time riding with is moving back to Mississippi...

My "twin" of the one piece suit splendor is selling his bike...

Wow Morton Salt was right, when it rains it pours.

It'll all be okay though. Change happens, and there is always a reason for it. Cherish the memories, they're like amazing photographs that are stored in a permanently opened archive aka, your brain... (us mid westerners aren't the best at metaphors; we reserve that and frying chicken to the southerners).

Next time you ride with a friend, remember the feeling, and how fun it is to share that with someone. Que the music... "Its a beautiful day in the neighborhood, a beautiful day..." My little homage to Mr. Rogers there.

Happy August everyone. Remember only 6 days left until the Kansas City Cowboy Biker's birthday :)

  1. Sorry to hear about your friend moving away! Sucks since there doesn't seem to be a lot of guys out there that ride the way that it should be done. Hopefully there will be a new guy that gets the bike (or leather hehe) bug and you'll find another friend to go riding.

Wouldn't want you to end up on the Island of Misfit Mascots!

And what will the Kansas City Cowboy Biker be doing for his birthday?

  2. Thanks Jorge. I think I will have to wait til my partner gets his MSF class done and the new bike for the spring... I might find a guy in the fall in leathers, that's when they tend to come out more.

I'm not exactly sure what my birthday entails. No rides, I'm sure I'll be drinking :)

  3. I, too, sympathize with your sorrow at your friend leaving. I'd be very sad (devastated?) if any of a number of my friends moved away from LA, riding buddies or otherwise.

Did I ask you before if you've ever tried to set up a gay sportbike rider group out there? Possibly put up fliers at the local bars advertising a ride? Craigslist, maybe?

  4. I've tried. I went for a ride with a group of 3 guys once... Let's say, they fit the bill as "gay" really well. I enjoy riding, and they would rather sit on their bike.. then when they did ride it seemed they were afraid of it.

I've tried the craigslist thing to, and no sportbikers, just cruisers. I think its just my area. But Thanks for the tips!
